Here’s how it works: you can call the restaurant anytime during September and request a reservation for the “American Express Gold Table for Two.” If you have a Gold card you can also show it to your server to get a free off the menu dish next month.

You could never have too many pizza spots, especially ones that come from Mermaid Inn owner and JG Melon partner Danny Abrams. According to Eater, the new place will be called Pizzeria Geseto and will open in November at 568 Amsterdam that housed one of The Mermaid Inn locations. They’ll be serving up Neapolitan style pizzas and four or five pastas, four or five meat and fish dishes, and an Italian wine list.

A spat arose between two P.F. Chang’s employees at one of their mall locations in Massachusetts. After an argument between two of the restaurant’s chefs, Jaquan Huston stabbed Elivelton Dias in the back. Dias was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. According to Grub Street, P.F. Chang’s says it’s committed to providing care to Dias’s family, as well as to its traumatized employees.

Teen Chef Flynn McGarry Opens Eureka in New York

This sixteen-year-old chef prodigy is out opening his first restaurant in New York. According to Grub Street, on September 12 he’ll launch a 12-seat, reservations-only spot in the Creative Edge space in the West Village, where he’ll serve a 14-course tasting menu three days of the week.

No one wants a roach dumpling, but looks like Prosperity Dumpling has been serving up dumplings made in a roach-infested environment (among other things) for a while now. The DOH shut down the Chinatown restaurant after a photo surfaced of dumplings being prepped in a back alley with rats running around. According to Grub Street, the beloved Cheap Eats spot incurred 65 violation points, including live roaches and “filth flies” present in food areas. Check out the full report:

1. Cold food item held above 41º F (smoked fish and reduced oxygen packaged foods above 38 ºF) except during necessary preparation.

2. Raw, cooked or prepared food is adulterated, contaminated, cross-contaminated, or not discarded in accordance with HACCP plan.

3. Live roaches present in facility’s food and/or non-food areas.

4. Filth flies or food/refuse/sewage-associated (FRSA) flies present in facility’s food and/or non-food areas. Filth flies include house flies, little house flies, blow flies, bottle flies and flesh flies. Food/refuse/sewage-associated flies include fruit flies, drain flies and Phorid flies.

5. Food not protected from potential source of contamination during storage, preparation, transportation, display or service.

6. Facility not vermin proof. Harborage or conditions conducive to attracting vermin to the premises and/or allowing vermin to exist.

7. Plumbing not properly installed or maintained; anti-siphonage or backflow prevention device not provided where required; equipment or floor not properly drained; sewage disposal system in disrepair or not functioning properly.

8. Non-food contact surface improperly constructed. Unacceptable material used. Non-food contact surface or equipment improperly maintained and/or not properly sealed, raised, spaced or movable to allow accessibility for cleaning on all sides, above and underneath the unit.

9. Single service item reused, improperly stored, dispensed; not used when required.

Grub Street sums up the report by saying: “Natural pesticides and fertilizers can still be harmful, and since major corporations have entered the organic-farming scene, “the lower yields combined with the use of heavy machinery means it actually releases more greenhouse gases into the atmosphere than conventional farming.”‘
