When you think of moonshine, you probably think of some illegal concoction distilled in a bathtub circa 1920. But please, let Port Morris Distillery in the South Bronx change your mind. This distillery specializes in pitorro, or a “Puerto Rican moonshine” made from sugar cane. One woman, Nancy Soto, 62 told the Times that she used to drink her father’s pitorro but never like it because it burned through her stomach. She changed her mind when she tried Port Morris Distillery’s pitorro saying, “it’s actually delicious.”
